Care and Nurture Ministry Team
The Care and Nurture Ministry consists of the following ministry teams:
Council Liaisons: Nancy Berry and Sue Eikenberry
Child Care
Ministry Leaders: Shirley Elwood and Nancy Berry
Mission: to maintain a safe and quiet place
for young children during church services.
Funeral Dinner
Ministry Leader: Karen Springer
Mission: to provide meals for the family and any other support that is needed.
Home Communion
Ministry Leader: Ida Mary Stringer
Mission: to distribute homebound communion quarterly to our shut-ins and others who request it. The members of our ministry team continue to share the Lord’s Supper with love, care, sensitivity and joy.
Hospital Visits
Ministry Leader: Pastor Paul
Mission: to visit and provide members support when in the hospital.
Parish Health
Ministry Leaders: Jayne Reff, RN; Kathy Schaffer, RN; and Diana Vargo, RN
Mission: to maintain and improve the health of our church families through education and service.
The Parish Health nurses supported and organized the annual “Go Red” breakfast for women
and the Men’s Health Breakfast. Ongoing support is given to Messiah members through the Blood Pressure Clinics
on the second Sunday of each month, and also informational articles published in “The Messenger.” Blood pressures
are also taken at Lenten soup suppers. Our annual city-wide “Focus on Health”
is also held at Messiah.
Prayer Chain
Ministry Leader: Myrna Igney
Mission: to organize a prayer chain for
those in need.

Telecare

Mission: to maintain communication with
members of Messiah and provide support, information, and a sense
of caring for one another.
Support Group
Ministry Leader: Mary Husted
Mission: to give support to members in times of need or grieving situations.
Supper Club
Mission: to maintain friendly fellowship for
Messiah’s members to enjoy good food.
Home Group Leaders: Nancy Berry, Sharon Clark
This group meets together monthly in supper club members’ homes.
Restaurant Group Leader: Dick Ellison
This group meets in different restaurants on the last Sunday of the month.
